About Us

"Local businesses will have a role to play in supporting the delivery of these aspirations."
The above statement is the final sentence within the Cultural Strategy identified for Thanet by its local Council.

So what exactly is the intended role for these businesses and what are the supported aspirations for Margate?

More information can be found within the Margate  Framework & Implementation Plan 2009-2011 produced by Margate Renewal Partnership.

The Cultural Vision

Margate is rapidly developing into an arts area and the Old Town is at the hub of the creativity. Within the few cobbled streets there lies a wealth of artists' studios and galleries, which will compliment the forthcoming Turner Contemporary Gallery, as well as specialist shops and restaurants to delight and entice you.

            Who Are Margate OTAG?
The Old Town Action Group is a community group made up of individuals from different business & public sectors, namely local businesses, traders, residents, council members, including KCC & other groups & agencies.

Anne-Marie Nixey from Qing at 7 Market Place is the current Chairperson.

                   What Do We Do?
We're part of the cultural vision aiming to develop Margate Old Town as a Cultural Quarter, supporting the Turner Contemporary development for this purpose.

We organise seasonal activities within the Old Town Market Place.
